Basildon United picked up three more important points in the promotion quest with a comfortable win at Wadham Lodge.
The Bees were ahead inside three minutes when James Peagram make the most of a defensive slip to slot home.
But the hosts were bright early on and it took a good block from George Whitby to deny Abiola Tanimowo, as Wadham Lodge searched for an equaliser.
The visitors lead was doubled though on 24 minutes as Oli Spooner found space to shoot home from 12 yards and it could have been three soon after, as Spooner turned provider to Peagram who was unfortunate to see his effort cannon back off the bar.
However, it was only minutes later that it was three as Peagram drilled in a pinpoint cross for Marcus Bowers to finish a fine move in style.
Basildon had a commanding lead at the interval and it was extended further on the hour as Jack Adlington, on as a substitute just two minutes earlier, found the net from inside the box.
The hosts pulled one back with 13 minutes to play, as Daniel Francis' deflected free kick left Connor Wheatley with no chance, but it was to prove to be no more than a consolation as The Bees closed the game out to win three more crucial points.
