Basildon United will hope that it is third time lucky as they return to action at Cricklefield on Wednesday evening (31 January) to face Ilford in the Essex Senior League.
With the last two scheduled fixtures away at Hullbridge Sports and Southend Manor both postponed, manager Marc Harrison will be desperate to get the players back on the pitch and into the action.
He will have to do so without the services of George Whitby, who once again will try to begin his three match suspension following his sending off against Clapton in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.
Wednesday’s hosts, Ilford, have moved up to seventh place in the table over recent weeks with a run of three wins in four games. Home wins against West Essex and Hackney Wick and an away win at Sporting Bengal United were enjoyed with the only defeat in that spell coming at a resurgent Stansted.
But with FC Romania having picked up a narrow victory against Barkingside at the same venue earlier this week, The Bees will be looking to pick up the three points to keep the pressure on the leaders at the top.
