The Bees Host Saffron Walden Town in the Essex Senior League
The Bees return to league action tonight, just 72 hours after securing their first three points of the season with a 2–0 victory over Clapton Community.
First-half goals from Chinedu Duru and Bade Aleketu were enough to secure the win, while a determined defensive performance saw Basildon keep a well-earned clean sheet to round off a successful afternoon at the DST Stadium.
Tonight's visitors, Saffron Walden Town, head into the fixture two places below the Bees in 16th, having also picked up their first points of the season at the weekend. They recorded a 2–0 home victory over West Essex, with Ollie Miles and Emmanuel Okunwobi getting on the scoresheet.
Last Season's Meetings
The two sides produced plenty of goals across their meetings last season.
Basildon came out on top in a thrilling 3–2 victory at home in December, with Nikolay Zlatev, Jack Wilson and Noor Mbaza-Samuel finding the net for the Bees. Sam Deering scored twice for Saffron Walden, but his goals ultimately proved to be only late consolation efforts as Basildon claimed all three points.
Saffron Walden would get their revenge just a few weeks later, however, recording a convincing 4–0 victory. Deering was once again among the goals, scoring twice, while Kaleel Green and Will Avis also found the net to secure the points for the hosts.
With both sides coming into tonight's fixture off the back of their first league victories of the season, another competitive encounter is expected at the DST Stadium.
