Basildon United return to Essex Senior League action at The Ho-Ho Stadium on Tuesday evening (10 April), looking to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over FC Romania on Saturday afternoon.
Two goals from Jack Adlington ensured victory over The Bees promotion rivals and also meant that their promotion destiny is back in their own hands following two recent back-to-back defeats against Hullbridge Sports and Waltham Forest.
Basildon are currently eight points behind Redbridge who occupy the second automatic promotion spot, but they have two games in hand over The Motormen and have to play them at The Ho-Ho Stadium in what could be a promotion shoot out in the last game of the season.
Bees Manager Marc Harrison said, “I am delighted with the way the players responded against FC Romania. We asked them to reflect on the two defeats and to go back to doing the basics right that have served us so well this season. We have earned another chance in the promotion race and we will be working hard to see what we can achieve”.
The club are urging the people of Basildon to come out in force to support the team, starting with tomorrow’s game against Stansted. Vice-chairman Richard Barrett said, “Our supporters have been fantastic all season being in excellent voice and following the team far and wide. It would be fantastic to see The Hive buzzing with a large crowd for our remaining home games. It really does provide the team with an extra lift.
Kick off tomorrow evening is at 7.45 pm.
